Enabling Asset Management

Asset management is a critical component of our service. The main purpose of asset management is to protect the client’s investment and leverage these assets for follow-up and future/new projects.

Besides the actual project deliverables, we consider enabling assets to be all supplemental assets that affect the quality and production of deliverables, for example:

  • Style guides (e.g., formatting and language conventions)

  • Glossaries

  • Translation memories

  • Work instructions (incl. workflows)

  • QA checklists

We make sure that translation memories and glossaries are up-to-date and maintained properly and supplied to all affected resources. Likewise, we prepare style guides and process documentation as necessary to allow consistent and repeatable practices for each project and client. All project items are version-controlled as they progress through production stages to maintain clear oversight and traceability for each activity.

The benefits of proper asset management are economies of scale, improved time to market, cost-effectiveness, reduced process variance, and higher service quality.

Translation Memory Management

Translation memory (TM) management is a staple component of our professional translation services. Good TM practices impact on translation cost and turnaround time. Thus, we place great emphasis on TM management to ensure the best possible leveraging for each given project.

In addition, by version-controlling TMs, we maintain a history of established terminologies that allows us to effectively control client-specific new and obsolete terminologies.

We are also accustomed to utilizing clients’ existing TMs or collaborating with other suppliers that provide language services to our clients. In general, clients have access to their TMs at any time.

btCloud TM Share is offered as a technology solution as part of LUZ’s innovative btCloud platform. It provides in integrated environment to store and share translation memories across an enterprise or across multiple suppliers.

Terminology Management

We routinely create and maintain glossaries for our clients in order to streamline the translation process for all involved and to ensure correct as well as consistent terminology usage. Depending on the client’s existing translation assets and expectations, we may also utilize client-provided glossaries.

Similar to our TM management practices, we maintain glossaries by client and version-control each revisions to ensure up-to-date terminology.

Document Management

Managing and sharing globalized documents is a challenge for many clients. The scope of document management services varies depending on a client’s specific needs. Typical applications may involve, but are not limited to the following service needs:

  • Storing and archiving translated documents in a repository for easy retrieval

  • Management of access rights, version control, and audit trails of revised documents

  • Document library setup and management

  • Document sharing across different users and business entities

  • Group or role-based login permissions for users, controlling access to assets in the system

  • Customization of metadata to effectively manage document search and retrieval

  • Reporting of system usage, volume, and other relevant statistical information, including spending, cost savings, and performance reporting

These are just some examples of the document management services we can provide to our clients.
